1. The Prudential Spirit of Community Award
If you’ve made a difference by volunteering in your community
over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a trip to Washington,
D.C. by applying for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award.
It’s easy to apply:
Visit www.prudential.com/spirit or www.principals.org/prudential.
Click on the “Apply Now”
link, and follow the on-screen instruction.

When asked for the access key, type the word
spirit.

Once you have completed your online application, print
it out, sign it, and have a parent sign it.

Submit your
printed application to school office no later than October 31st.
ACT Registration Deadline
The deadline to register for the October 25 th ACT is Friday, September 19, 2008.
Registration packets are now available in the school office. Students may also
register online by going to www.actstudent.org. The ACT is a college entrance
exam. The scores often determine what students will receive certain scholarships.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you study hard and do your very best on the ACT.
All 11 th and 12th grade students are encouraged to take the ACT this year. (The
high school code for Vicksburg Community School is 253-149.)
